Landscape—Ambitious

Topic Four: Landscapes

For this ambitious assignment, I've decided to create wearable art. The materials used for this project were a black curtain, a white sheer curtain, elastic bands, thread, hot glue, and a lamp shade.

The first thing I did was remove the fabric from the lamp shade. After doing that, I've used the bottom wire to sew in the black curtain on. To ensure that the curtain was secure around the wire, I applied hot glue to certain areas. Once the curtain was around the wire, I glued the ends of it together.

This piece was to serve as the hood of the wearable art. Once the hood was done, I began to attach the sheer curtain on the inside of the hood. Like the black curtain, the sheer curtain was wrapped around the wire. Instead of sewing it together like the black curtain, I left it open. I then took the bottom end of the sheer curtain and attached an elastic band to it. This allowed the piece to tightly fasten itself around my leg.

Once I was done with the body piece, I moved on to the hand. The first thing I did was take the top half of the lamp shade and wrap it with black thread. I then took armature wire and wrapped it around the wire as well. After doing that, I took a piece of the sheer curtain and glued the edges around the lamp shade wire. Like the other piece, I took an elastic band and stitched it onto the end of the curtain.
